PAGEGETTER.COM FAQ
What if I receive a message that this e-mail containts frames?Effective October 2000, you have two method for retrieving graphics via PageGetter.com. The original frame-enabled technology is still available through Frame Retriever. If your e-mail client does not support frames, use the new service available through Web Retriever. Web Retriever will now split pages with frames into multiple e-mails - one for each frame. You can still retrieve a text version of the page using our Text Retriever service. Back to TopDo I put the requested web pages in the body or subject of the message? For web pages, the web addresses can be in either location. For stock quotes, company information, and stock charts, the ticker symbols must be in the subject line of the message. Back to TopHow long should it take to receive a reply?Depending on network traffic, replies will be sent in seconds or as much as minutes. Back to TopWhat if my URL is longer than one line of my e-mail program?Break the URL into multiple lines, using a backslash as a continuation character. Example: http://164.195.100.11/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2\ =HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=/netahtml/srchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s\ 1='6119935'.WKU.&OS=PN/6119935&RS=PN/6119935 Back to TopWhy do I receive multiple copies of the same request? The PageGetter.com server will attempt to service a single e-mail for up to 15 minutes. If the request takes longer than 15 minutes, we assume the server hosting the requested page is unavailable and we stop processing the request. After a short period, our server attempts to process your request a 2nd and 3rd time. Some PageGetter.com customers are sending e-mails with 100's of URL's. If your e-mail contains more requests than can be serviced in fifteen minutes, the server will cancel the process and in a few minutes attempt to process the request a 2nd and 3rd time. This can cause you to receive the same e-mail 2 or 3 times. If this is happening to you, solve the problem by sending fewer requests in each e-mail. Back to TopWhat if I am having other problems with the service?Send an e-mail describing the problem to Support@PageGetter.com Back to Top |
